Company Overview:
A leading financial advisory firm with a legacy as one of the oldest independent investment banks, advising clients on mergers, acquisitions, and capital markets solutions. They are seeking a Backend API Developer to design and implement secure data-access and service layers for full-stack applications.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and data-access layers for business applications.
  • Build secure, scalable, and well-documented RESTful APIs and system integrations.
  • Define API standards for authentication, authorization, versioning, and error handling.
  • Implement application-security controls, including role-based access and encryption.
  • Design and optimize relational and non-relational database structures and queries.
  • Develop reusable services for data exposure to applications and reporting platforms.
  • Integrate applications with third-party platforms, cloud services, and enterprise systems.
  • Partner with data engineers and stakeholders to understand data requirements.
  • Build automated tests for backend services and optimize API response times.
  • Establish application observability through logging, metrics, and monitoring.
  • Integrate services into CI/CD pipelines and support automated deployment processes.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and production support.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and mentor other engineers.

Qualifications:

  • 10–12 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep experience in building production backend services, APIs, and data-access components.
  • Proficiency in backend development languages such as Python, C#/.NET, Java/Spring Boot, or Node.js/TypeScript.
  • Advanced experience with RESTful APIs and microservices-based architectures.
  • Strong knowledge of API security, including OAuth 2.0 and JWT.
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with relational databases like SQL Server or PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with secure software development practices and data protection.
  • Experience with automated testing and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Understanding of object-oriented design and distributed-system concepts.
  • Experience with Git, containerization, and modern deployment practices.

Compensation:
Pay Rate: $110 – $140/hr
