Company Overview:
A multi-strategy investment firm with over $8 billion in assets under management is seeking a Principal Java Engineer to join their Trading Systems Team. The firm is known for its focus on Volatility, Fundamental Equities, and Quant strategies, and values innovation and top talent.

Job Responsibilities:

• Work closely with traders, quants, and operations teams to implement and enhance the proprietary trading system.
• Integrate and support FIX connectivity with brokers, exchanges, ECNs, and liquidity providers.
• Troubleshoot and resolve FIX session issues, including connectivity, message sequencing, and protocol compliance.
• Design, develop, and maintain solutions for position management, order flow, and PnL tracking.
• Implement upgrades to market data feeds and trading system components for high availability and failover.
• Design and develop high-quality solutions that prioritize performance and scalability.
• Participate in second and third-level support, including a 24×6 on-call rotation for a global trading system.
• Implement monitoring solutions with Grafana/Prometheus to proactively identify and address potential system issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM subject; master’s degree is a plus.
• 7+ years of development experience, including experience with real-time trading systems.
• Strong core Java skills (multi-threading concepts, sockets, memory management) and a solid understanding of distributed architectures.
• Deep understanding of FIX 4.2, 4.4, and 5.0, including session management, message types, and custom extensions.
• Hands-on experience with FIX engines (e.g., QuickFix/J, Appia, Chronicle FIX).
• Additional experience with investment tools such as Bloomberg, Refinitiv, and risk modeling/portfolio optimization packages is a plus.
• Knowledge of Open-Source technologies that scale, such as Kafka, Ignite, or Spark is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience of project and task ownership, from inception to completion.

Compensation:
Salary: $150,000 – $250,000, Plus Bonus
