Company Overview:
A global private equity and alternative assets investment firm, based in Miami, specializes in providing both debt and equity capital to small and mid-sized companies. They are seeking an Assistant Controller to join their Credit Platform's accounting team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Investment and Operations teams to ensure accurate accounting books and records.
  • Train and supervise both onshore and offshore teams, providing opportunities for career growth.
  • Research and propose solutions to improve process and reporting efficiency.
  • Monitor investments and analyze performance, engaging with investment professionals.
  • Review and approve quarterly financial reports, ensuring compliance with governing documents and GAAP.
  • Manage fund liquidity to optimize IRR for LPs and monitor deal pipelines.
  • Interpret and review fund legal agreements and model fund-specific calculations.
  • Review and coordinate investor communications and responses to inquiries.
  • Assist in quarterly valuation reviews and ensure documentation of changes.
  • Provide senior management with updates on performance and key fund events.
  • Plan and execute year-end audits for assigned funds.
  • Interact with the Tax Team to compile tax information.
  • Manage external stakeholder relationships, including credit facility providers and auditors.
  • Handle complex fund features, such as rebalancing, foreign currency hedges, and derivatives.
  • Assist with special projects and internal ad-hoc requests.

Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate or post-graduate degree in accounting required.
  • 10-15 years of experience in alternative investments or public accounting.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of credit instruments and fund accounting concepts.
  • Strong Excel skills; Macro/VBA skills are a plus.
  • Experience with distressed debt, credit instruments, and foreign investments preferred.
  • Knowledge of Investran and/or Virtual Portfolio Manager (VPM) is a plus.

Compensation:
Pay Rate: $90 – $120/hr
