Company Overview:
A prominent investment advisory firm with approximately $6 billion in assets under management is seeking a Tax Manager to join their team. The firm specializes in credit relative value and capital structure trading strategies.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary internal tax resource for all fund-level and entity-level tax matters, including U.S. federal, state, and local tax compliance across multiple fund structures.
  • Manage the preparation and review of partnership tax returns (Form 1065) and associated Schedule K-1s for domestic and offshore fund entities, coordinating with external tax preparers.
  • Oversee the preparation of investor tax reporting, including PFIC annual information statements, UBTI calculations, and foreign tax credit reporting.
  • Manage tax compliance calendar and ensure timely filing of all tax returns, extensions, and estimated tax payments across all fund entities.
  • Monitor and advise on the tax implications of fund investment strategies, including credit instruments, derivatives, CDS, options, and other complex financial products.
  • Review wash sale, straddle, and mark-to-market calculations.
  • Liaise with external auditors on tax-related matters and assist in the preparation of tax footnotes and disclosures in financial statements.
  • Respond to tax authority inquiries, notices, and audits; manage correspondence with federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Participate in special projects including fund launches, restructurings, and investor onboarding from a tax perspective.

Qualifications:

  • 5–8 years of tax experience, with a focus on investment partnerships or financial services; prior public accounting experience at a Big 4 or large regional firm strongly preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of partnership taxation (Subchapter K), hedge fund structures including Master-Feeder and offshore fund structures, and related tax compliance requirements.
  • Strong understanding of financial products including fixed income, derivatives, options, and credit instruments and their associated tax treatment.
  • Experience with Schedule K-1 preparation and investor tax reporting for domestic and international investors, including PFIC and FATCA considerations.
  • Familiarity with tax software and fund accounting systems; proficiency in Excel required.

Compensation:
Salary: $175,000 – $200,000, Plus Bonus
