Company Overview:
A mid-sized U.S. domestic property and casualty insurance company with a nearly 100-year history of strong financial performance is seeking a Technical Accounting Specialist. This role will focus on maintaining accounting policies and procedures, as well as conducting accounting research on GAAP and SAP bases.

Job Responsibilities:

• Drive the department-wide initiative regarding accounting policy and procedure development.
• Coordinate and oversee annual accounting policy and procedure reviews/updates.
• Actively monitor and communicate activities at the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
• Drive GAAP and SAP research projects leveraging resources from functional groups within Finance.
• Monitor and coordinate activities related to records and information management policy and procedures within Finance.
• Responsible for quality control of quarterly and annual documents filed with the SEC and NAIC.
• Ensure company compliance with GAAP and SAP.

Qualifications:

• Significant knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and/or SAP.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• 5+ years of accounting experience in public accounting or a combination of public and industry.
• Financial services experience preferred.

Compensation:
Pay Rate: $50 – $95/hr
