Company Overview:
A leading non-profit organization is seeking a Controller to oversee its accounting operations and ensure accurate financial reporting. The role involves managing the finance team and supporting executive management with technical accounting and operational expertise.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full-cycle accounting function, ensuring timely and accurate monthly and year-end closes in NetSuite.
  • Coordinate annual audit preparation and manage internal audit requests and schedules.
  • Oversee preparation and coordination of annual tax and compliance filings, including IRS Form 990 and 1099 filings.
  • Support NJHMFA compilation and reporting requirements.
  • Manage the general ledger, accounts payable, cash receipts, disbursements, and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Director of Administration & CRM and the Development team on Salesforce-related processes.
  • Serve as a finance liaison with corporate office contacts, vendors, auditors, and funders.
  • Assist the CFO with the preparation of the annual operating budget and financial projections.
  • Oversee grants accounting and funder reporting, including restricted revenue tracking.
  • Develop and implement internal control systems and risk management policies.
  • Update and maintain accounting process documentation and internal control narratives.
  • Monitor communication channels for timely response to finance and reporting matters.
  • Prepare ad hoc reports and analyses for the CFO, CEO, auditors, and funders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of controllership experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Experience with grant management and contract-level budgeting.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and New Jersey State laws and accounting standards for non-profits.
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience, including month-end close and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
  • CPA or CPA track strongly preferred.

Compensation:
Pay Rate: $60 – $65/hr, DOE
