Company Overview:
A commodities asset manager, launched in 2019, specializes in long-only and alpha products, leveraging extensive expertise in commodity trading and index mechanics. They are seeking a Business Systems Engineer to enhance operational efficiency and streamline business processes across various functions.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the full solution lifecycle, including requirements gathering, architecture, implementation, deployment, monitoring, and ongoing support.
  • Partner directly with business users to identify problems, gather requirements, evaluate tradeoffs, and define practical, scalable technology solutions.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain production-quality applications, services, integrations, workflows, and automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain integrations across internal systems, data platforms, reporting tools, document repositories, and approved third-party systems.
  • Rapidly prototype and evaluate potential solutions, gather user feedback, and evolve successful concepts into reliable, production-ready systems.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation standards and controls to ensure solutions are secure, auditable, maintainable, and aligned with business requirements.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies, automation frameworks, and AI capabilities to improve business processes and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • At least five years of experience designing, building, and supporting software systems, workflow automation solutions, and internal technology platforms.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, engineering, data science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or another quantitative or technical field.
  • Strong practical programming and development skills in Python and SQL, with experience using modern data, application development, and automation frameworks.
  • Experience designing, building, and supporting production applications, APIs, databases, integrations, and data-driven systems.
  • Strong understanding of modern software engineering practices, including testing, version control, code review, CI/CD, documentation, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Working knowledge of APIs, cloud services, authentication, authorization, and secure software design.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled technologies, including large language models, AI APIs, retrieval techniques, and workflow automation frameworks.

Compensation:
Salary: $175,000 – $250,000, Plus Bonus
